Tafsir of verse (1) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ ﴾
By the star when it descends.
Tafsir of verse (2) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ ﴾
Your companion [i.e., Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred.
Tafsir of verse (3) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ ﴾
Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination.
Tafsir of verse (4) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌۭ يُوحَىٰ ﴾
It is not but a revelation revealed.
Tafsir of verse (5) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ ﴾
Taught to him by one intense in strength [i.e., Gabriel].
Tafsir of verse (6) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ ذُو مِرَّةٍۢ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ ﴾
One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form.
Tafsir of verse (7) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ﴾
While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.
Tafsir of verse (8) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ ﴾
Then he approached and descended.
Tafsir of verse (9) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ ﴾
And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.
Tafsir of verse (10) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ ﴾
And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed [i.e., conveyed].
Tafsir of verse (11) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ ﴾
The heart did not lie [about] what it saw.
Tafsir of verse (12) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ أَفَتُمَٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ ﴾
So will you dispute with him over what he saw?
Tafsir of verse (13) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ ﴾
And he certainly saw him in another descent.
Tafsir of verse (14) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ ﴾
At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary.
Tafsir of verse (15) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ ﴾
(14) At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary. (15) Near it is the Garden of Refuge [i.e., Paradise].
Tafsir of verse (16) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ ﴾
When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].
Tafsir of verse (17) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ ﴾
The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].
Tafsir of verse (18) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ ﴾
He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.
Tafsir of verse (19) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ ﴾
So have you considered al-Lat and al-Uzza?
Tafsir of verse (20) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ ﴾
And Manat, the third – the other one?
Tafsir of verse (21) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ ﴾
Is the male for you and for Him the female?
Tafsir of verse (22) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ تِلْكَ إِذًۭا قِسْمَةٌۭ ضِيزَىٰٓ ﴾
That, then, is an unjust division.
Tafsir of verse (23) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌۭ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ﴾
They are not but [mere] names you have named them – you and your forefathers – for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance.
Tafsir of verse (24) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ أَمْ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ ﴾
Or is there for man whatever he wishes?
Tafsir of verse (25) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْءَاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ ﴾
Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].
Tafsir of verse (26) from Surah An-Najm
﴿ ۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍۢ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ ﴾
And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allah has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves.
