Tafsir of verse (52) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ إِذ دَخَلوا عَلَيهِ فَقالوا سَلٰمًا قالَ إِنّا مِنكُم وَجِلونَ ﴾
When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful [i.e., apprehensive] of you."
Tafsir of verse (53) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالوا لا تَوجَل إِنّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلٰمٍ عَليمٍ ﴾
[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."
Tafsir of verse (54) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالَ أَبَشَّرتُمونى عَلىٰ أَن مَسَّنِىَ الكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرونَ ﴾
He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform?"
Tafsir of verse (55) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالوا بَشَّرنٰكَ بِالحَقِّ فَلا تَكُن مِنَ القٰنِطينَ ﴾
They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing."
Tafsir of verse (56) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالَ وَمَن يَقنَطُ مِن رَحمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضّالّونَ ﴾
He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"
Tafsir of verse (57) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالَ فَما خَطبُكُم أَيُّهَا المُرسَلونَ ﴾
[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"
Tafsir of verse (58) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالوا إِنّا أُرسِلنا إِلىٰ قَومٍ مُجرِمينَ ﴾
They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals.
Tafsir of verse (59) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ إِلّا ءالَ لوطٍ إِنّا لَمُنَجّوهُم أَجمَعينَ ﴾
Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all.
Tafsir of verse (60) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ إِلَّا امرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرنا ۙ إِنَّها لَمِنَ الغٰبِرينَ ﴾
Except his wife." We [i.e., Allah] decreed that she is of those who remain behind.
Tafsir of verse (61) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ فَلَمّا جاءَ ءالَ لوطٍ المُرسَلونَ ﴾
And when the messengers came to the family of Lot.
Tafsir of verse (62) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالَ إِنَّكُم قَومٌ مُنكَرونَ ﴾
He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."
Tafsir of verse (63) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالوا بَل جِئنٰكَ بِما كانوا فيهِ يَمتَرونَ ﴾
They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing.
Tafsir of verse (64) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ وَأَتَينٰكَ بِالحَقِّ وَإِنّا لَصٰدِقونَ ﴾
And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.
Tafsir of verse (65) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ فَأَسرِ بِأَهلِكَ بِقِطعٍ مِنَ الَّيلِ وَاتَّبِع أَدبٰرَهُم وَلا يَلتَفِت مِنكُم أَحَدٌ وَامضوا حَيثُ تُؤمَرونَ ﴾
So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."
Tafsir of verse (66) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ وَقَضَينا إِلَيهِ ذٰلِكَ الأَمرَ أَنَّ دابِرَ هٰؤُلاءِ مَقطوعٌ مُصبِحينَ ﴾
And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.
Tafsir of verse (67) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ وَجاءَ أَهلُ المَدينَةِ يَستَبشِرونَ ﴾
And the people of the city came rejoicing.
Tafsir of verse (68) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالَ إِنَّ هٰؤُلاءِ ضَيفى فَلا تَفضَحونِ ﴾
[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.
Tafsir of verse (69) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلا تُخزونِ ﴾
And fear Allah and do not disgrace me."
Tafsir of verse (70) from Surah Al-Hijr
﴿ قالوا أَوَلَم نَنهَكَ عَنِ العٰلَمينَ ﴾
They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"
